Do we really understand others?

A couple of average parents had a teenage son.

Unfortunately, the father passed away.

The widowed mother and son were both sad.

They decided to go on a pilgrimage to Badrinath.

The son needed a break from everything. His mother yearned for solace in the heart. Her husband told her that only the Supreme can always help.

Badrinath is in the Himalayas, more than 3000 meters above sea level.

The son was determined to protect his mother while travelling.

The last part of the pilgrimage was in the mountains.

Mother and son rented a small pony for the luggage.

In the beginning, the mother rode the horse. Her son led the pony.

While passing the first village, people commented, »This woman is exploiting the youngster. She rides the pony like a queen, and he must walk.« The mother accepted it and got off the horse. She insisted her son to ride the pony. He agreed to it.

In the second village, one man said, »The young boy rides the horse, and the old lady must walk.« Now, the son suggested that both get on the pony.

They came into the third village. People were shocked. They criticized the mother and son being too heavy for this horse. They decided to walk along the pony.

Finally, they arrived at the next location. Still, the people were not satisfied.

Having been judged in each village, the son and mother stopped paying attention to any further suggestions.

Instead of it, they started to listen to their hearts.

They reached Badrinath and prayed, »O Lord, please be compassionate. We pray for the intelligence to follow you.«

After the pilgrimage, they both felt grateful for their new lessons.
